Finances & Reimbursements
As of late March 2021, we now use Open Collective to track and manage our finances. This is an organization that allows groups like ours to show where our money is coming from and going to.
The idea of mutual aid respects the fact that we may all be in a position to help at different times and different ways (and that we may all need help at different times, too!). If you have the time and ability to buy and deliver goods for people in our community, but are unable to afford the cost of the purchase, you can ask for a request here. Similarly, if you are fundraising for folks who need help with larger expenses, you can submit a request for reimbursement of up to $200.
Please note that you must have proof of the purchase (picture of the receipt, or if you're sending money, of the app transfer) AND some kind of proof of delivery (such as a screenshot of a text confirming delivery). You'll also need the ticket number of the request in our Slack channel.
